February 10th COCFL Retreat Day – Save the Date

A Prayer for Living ~ A Prayer for Dying
A Centering Prayer Retreat Day with Susan Rush

Saturday, February 10, 2018
Presented by Contemplative Outreach of Central Florida

Central Baptist Church – Adams Hall
152 Fairview Avenue
Daytona Beach, Florida 32114
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Join us as we explore how our Centering Prayer practice and dying to ourselves is the perfect preparation to dying our natural death. Using Fr. Thomas Keating’s wisdom (The Gift of Life DVD series) we will explore the topics of Judgment, Mercy and The Mystery of God. We will have time for reflection and group wisdom sharing on these topics. As we share the intention of this as a retreat day, our schedule will be laced with periods of Centering Prayer, silence, solitude, a meditative awareness walk and chanting.

Susan Rush has been active in the Contemplative Outreach community for almost three decades. She has served in the field of health care throughout her adult life. Her background is in Clinical Pastoral Education, formation for contemplative leadership and she is a certified spiritual director. Susan has served on many hospice and palliative care teams. Susan served as the founding coordinator of Contemplative Outreach of New Mexico and has served in other areas in CO, Ltd. Susan states that her connection with the CO community is her key to remaining resilient in our “wobby” world. Compassionate presence with a contemplative heart is her goal. She resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

By way of introducing workshop leader Susan Rush, here is an excerpt from “Building Consensus in Groups: A Better Way?” presented at the Servant Leadership Workshop in St. Louis hosted by Contemplative Outlook, Ltd. The clip comes from the end of presentation as Susan explains why consensus is the better way of decision making for contemplative groups.

This isn’t the February 10th workshop subject but it illustrates Susan’s engaging style and sense of humor.
