Our retreat’s intention is not only to talk about the deep knowledge of God, but rather to move into the space where heart and mind are open and awake,  to let ourselves be vulnerable in and to the Living Presence flowering into the gifts and fruits of this divine dance, ultimately finding ourselves loved and indwelled by love.

Advent Retreat Design: The structure of our retreat will include times of Centering Prayer; moments of gentle contemplative movement; interactive visual and audio presentations open to spiritual inspiration, participation and exploration. Silence as sacred container as well as the ancient practice of custody of the eyes will help us ground our intent outside the presentation times, and to honor each participant’s inner space for communion.

About Maru:  Maru has been in service to the community of Contemplative Outreach largely behind the scenes for 3 decades. In the years when Fr. Thomas held the Amarillo Retreat in Texas she was part of the service team as cantor, spiritual director, moving meditation leader, offering healing work through massage and acupuncture as a way to balance the many hours of prayer, and to help integrate the energies of the unconscious.
She was a personal friend of Fr. Thomas Keating and was at his bedside praying with him just days before his death. She was invited by the monks to be at his funeral (very rare to invite outsiders). His Resurrection Mass took place during our November retreat last year. Those who were retreatants will remember that Maru sent us a picture of Fr. Thomas in his Bier, and we displayed that and a missing man chair in our prayer sits.
Maru was the live presenter of Thomas Keating’s Spiritual Journey for several of our June retreats in North Palm Beach. She also has co-led several retreats with Fr. Bill Sheehan in Alaska, serving the Spanish speaking community while Fr Bill served the English speaking folk. Maru convenes and facilitates the Amarillo post-intensive retreat with Fr. Sheehan and other priests every year. She has held retreats and presented the Spiritual Journey live for the last 10 years in Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Brazil. Some of these on a yearly basis.
She was our presenter a couple of years ago in the Melbourne area for a one day workshop and was very well received. We invited her because folks wanted her back.

v  Check In 3:00-4:30pm, Friday
v  Orientation & Moving meditation at 4:30pm
v  Dinner at 6:00pm
v  Retreat concludes at 11:00am on Sunday
v  Rooms are shared (two to a room) with private bath. A few private rooms are available (on a first come, first serve basis)
v  Total Cost: $275 for shared rooms, $325 for private rooms, $150 commuter rate (includes meals).
