Thomas Merton is the most famous monk of th 20th Century and one of the most quoted Christian mystics of all time, not only in religious contexts, but in literary, philosophical and historical ones.

One of Merton‘s most enduring works is his best selling autobiography, The Seven Story Mountain. His passion was that people not just believe bright ideas about God but that all of us have a deep personal actual experience of God
Dr. Rickey Cotton has presented workshops on contemplative spirituality and our Christian heritage around the country.  In this workshop we will together examine Merton‘s life and interact with major aspect of his writings and teachings. In addition we will have
  • periods of contemplative prayer,
  • times of meditation on Merton‘s powerful writing,
  • opportunities for individual reflection and prayer,
  • Q&A dialogue and mutual thoughtful stimulation
