Day of Praying, Listening & Eating

Saturday October 5, 2024, 9:00 am-3:30 pm – Deland

St. Barnabas Church,
319 Wisconsin Ave., Deland, FL

We will not have the “Visioning Day” but will have a much-needed Day of Prayer for all our chapter members. It has been a long time since we have been together, and we miss you! We miss the togetherness. We miss being with you. Please come and pray with us.

Who should come?
All practitioners of Centering Prayer in Central Florida are encouraged to come. This is a great opportunity to gather with people from all over our chapter and pray together and get reacquainted.

Carol Quest, originally scheduled for the “Visioning Day” has been talking with us for some time and she is coming from CO Minnesota to celebrate, pray, and update us on CO national, especially the revamped Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop. We will not be discerning new chapter leadership at this time.

Time and place will be the same (October 5, 9am-3:30pm, St. Barnabas, DeLand).

Carol Quest has been active in the Contemplative Outreach community for over 30 years. She currently volunteers as a member of the Contemplative Outreach Board and the Chapter Support Service Team as well as volunteering in her local chapter, Minnesota Contemplative Outreach.

Kieth Kristich will be joining us live on Zoom for a presentation on the future of Centering Prayer. Keith Kristich is a writer and retreat leader bringing an interspiritual approach to spiritual teaching, integrating wisdom from various contemplative traditions while highlighting the often-forgotten mystical teachings of Christianity. Keith is a commissioned Presenter of Centering prayer through Contemplative Outreach,
trained with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in leading contemplative prayer groups and retreats, and is a certified teacher of meditation and the Enneagram. Keith Kristich is the founder of Closer Than Breath, an online interspiritual community dedicated to the teaching and practice of contemplative
prayer.

Basha Perez is the second “mother” of Contemplative Outreach of Central Florida and will reflect on the heritage of our chapter. As coordinator from 1993 – 2009 she organized and staffed intensive 10-day retreats within the state of Florida with other area coordinators. She organized monthly events, i.e., introduction workshops, days of prayer, facilitator training and helped direct contemplative pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Greece and Turkey. Beginning in 1990, she was a presenter of introductory workshops and has been a director of formation for presenters for the Central Florida chapter. Basha has facilitated weekly CP groups since 1990.

Please reply to Alice Logan at [email protected] if you will be coming so we can prepare the room and plan for the continental breakfast. Please bring a bag lunch.

ZOOM LINK AVAILABLE. This is an in-person event, but if you are unable to attend because of distance or infirmity, please contact Alice Logan for a Zoom link. The Zoom link will be live from 9:00 am -3:30 pm. You will be able to view each of the live presentations by Basha and Carol, the two videos and Keith on Zoom, but the prayer times in the church will not be carried on Zoom. [email protected] Our working schedule is below.

We are looking forward to being with each one of you in our upcoming day of prayer. Because of COVID we have lost our intimacy with one another like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Paradise.  That is why this day of prayer is so invaluable. Our desire is to regain that intimacy with one another again.  If you were considering attending by Zoom, please pray and consider coming in person if you are able.  We all need and value each other’s presence.  Until we make that happen on October 5th be well, be at peace, and be loved.

In His love and service,

Dan Wagner.

Carol Quest is one of our presenters for the day with an update on the national scene.
