CONTEMPLATIVE ANCESTORS:
KEY MEDIEVAL WOMEN MYSTICS

AUGUST 6, 13, 20 AND 27
7:00 to 8:15 p.m.

with Dr. Rickey Cotton, Ed.D.

Hosted by The Franciscan Center on ZOOM

Our contemplative family history includes many remarkable female mystics.
Too often their legacy has not been acknowledged. This series will engage four of
the most significant.  Dr. Cotton fondly calls our ancient ancestors “our weird
uncles and strange aunts.” Certainly these women—Hadewijch, Mechthild,
Marguerite Porete, and Julian of Norwich—are colorful, creative, and courageous.
Engaging their lives together will be both delightful and spiritually enriching. Each
session will include teaching, discussion, and time for practicing contemplative
prayer.
